all versions of shadps4 crash
#1

all versions of shadps4 crash either at launch or when launching a game, at first I thought it was my VCredist but as the github suggests, I downloaded and installed every single vcredist possible so it's probably not that. Below there will be examples of versions and their exit codes.

a1509c06551d9026d40407a6c6d307ee827dd Pre-release:
crashes on launch
Exited with code -1073741795

0.9.0:
crashed on launch
Exited with code -1073741795

0.8.0:
crashed on launch
Exited with code -1073741795

my PC specs are:

AMD FX-6300
NVIDIA 970
16gb of ram
2 ssd
windows 10

If these aren't enough, you can ask me for more specific stuff.

It seems to be a Windows specific issue, there's no fixes currently but there's a somewhat "risky" workaround for that, it requires you to disable CFG in your Windows Security settings, if you want to go through with it do it at your own risk.

Well, good thing it wasn't that then (it didn't work). Is there any more info I can provide? I ran all these example versions of shadPS4 on the shadPS4 Launcher but I had previously tried them all outside of it and yeah, a few of them do open up but still crash at games start up. For example: 0.8.0 does open  but crashes with no warning when I try to run a game (Bloodborne) unlike 0.9.0 that doesn't even open.

Sorry if all of this incoherent, it's a little confusing to me. But yeah I'd be happy to try anything you guys can throw at me.

If 0.8.0 or any other version works but crashes when launching a game you can provide a log, you can get the the game's log location by opening shadPS4, right clicking on your game, and choose Open Folder -> Open Log Folder, then you can just drop it here and someone can take a look. For that other error like I said there's no real fix it seems like, I've heard a couple people made it worked by disabling CFG (which you already tried) or reinstalling Windows but those are not things I would recommend to do tbh.

There, had to attach it as a .txt file because I couldn't upload it as a .log file nor as a zip file. Also if nothing works I might just wait until I feel like trying it out on Linux since I've been meaning to switch to it or setup a dual boot.

I think I overlooked something, that CPU seems to be below the minimum requirement of shad, in order to work you need a CPU with AVX2 support and your CPU doesn't support it, the reason why you could at least launch it on older version was because the requirements were lower back then, and even then it seems like you had issues with launching games. Your CPU actually came out before the PS4 so even if it did support all the instructions you most likely would have completely unplayable performance anyway, that's my bad I'm not too familiar with old Intel and AMD CPUs so I missed it.

Damn, you're right... had a feeling it was a hardware limitation. Do you think this is also the reason I've had weird issues with RPCS3? I know you probably can't be certain but I would just like an educated guess, it's alright if you can't respond to that tho.

Anyways, thanks for the support. Hopefully I can enjoy shadps4 soon enough, bye now!

One more thing in your FAQ it does state that AVX2 is recommended but not required. The exact words are "AVX2 support (not a hard requirement, but strongly recommended for good performance)".

Would be good to update that if it's impossible for CPUs like mine to run shadps4.

Yeah that's our bad, the requirements on the website are a little outdated it seems, I will have a talk to get that changed, you can refer to the wiki on the GitHub in the meantime it's much more detailed: https://github.com/shadps4-emu/shadPS4/w...5BUsers%5D

As for RPCS3 I don't think AVX2 is a hard requirement for them but you may be missing some other instructions I guess, best to check directly with them to make sure, again sorry for wasting your time when you had provided all the relevant information.
